Athlete of the Month – Aug 2019 – Beth Sanders

Meet Beth!
Beth has been active in triathlons for 3 years now. Along with triathlon, she is a fantastic runner in our running community. Beth says her favorite race so far has been Chattanooga 70.3 in 2018. Her favorite mantra is, ” There will be a day that I can no longer do this… and today is not that day”. You can find Beth smiling while riding and running with friends around the community.

Athlete of the Month – August 2019 – Rachel Ulmer

Meet Rachel!
Rachel is a runner turned triathlete. She rocked her first 70.3 this past spring at the Half Booty. Rachel is a great motivator, training buddy and always with a smile and encouraging word. Her Favorite moti vational training song is

Athlete of the Month – July 2019 – Thomas Stracey

Meet Thomas!
Thomas has been doing triathlons since 2015. You can see Thomas at our open water swims, but not for long, because he is so fast, you just see him glide on by. Athlete of the Month – May 2019 – Ricky Currier

Meet Ricky! You have probably seen him and his wife, Chelsea, around many of the races and meetings. Ricky started in this sport two years ago, he says he is a firm believer in “train as you race”, meaning no music while training usually. His future goals are, “Master of the Mountain in NM (trail run, kayak, bike, shotgun course) is one I would like to try next year. As well as some formula 1 style races. I am trying to mix things up, so I do not lose interest in this great sport.”

Athlete of the Month – April 2019 – Peter Johnson

Meet Peter! He has been doing triathlon for 5 years now. He says his favorite triathlon is, Granite Man (NH). It benefits the memorial fund in honor of his uncle, Albert H. Dow III, who was killed in a 1982 avalanche on Mount Washington. In 2014 became the first in his family to race it. His best racing tip, transition faster! Athlete of the Month – Feb 2019 – Jason Duncan

Meet Jason!
Jason claims to be new to triathlon, however is not shying away from making big strides in the sport. He took on the challenge of Williamsburg 70.3 last year and is setting his sights on Chattanooga 140.6 this coming September.
Jason’s training tip is, “practice your weakness” and for racing, “take more nutrition than you think you will need”.

Athlete of the Month – Dec 2018 – Donna Botterbusch

Meet Donna Botterbusch!
When you read about Donna’s story of how she came to triathlon, you will be amazed and impressed. When asked how many years she has done triathlon, Donna answered, ” Competed three years, very late-bloomer, started in 2016 after cancer surgery at age 63. Never an athlete prior since I used to be size 22!”. She says she owes it to her daughter, who asked her to try a sprint with her, after placing 2nd in her AG, she was hooked!

Athlete of the Month – Nov 2018 – Keith Gardiner

Meet Keith Gardiner or AKA “Chef G”!
Keith, a chef instructor, has been doing triathlons for two years now. You may have seen him at the “Tour De Chef” bike ride, which he organizes to raise money for the local community. Whenever training with Keith, he is usually with a smile on with a great attitude of getting it done!
Keith has his eyes on the prize for next year, with two 70.3 races next year, Eagleman 70.3 and IM NC 70.3, and he is planning on doing the full Trivium series again. Way to motivate and be motivated by Keith!
