Years doing triathlon?
One year of triathlon, but I ran cross country and track for Western Carolina. My events were focused in the 3k steeplechase and 5k on the track.
First Triathlon?
Nat Greene’s Revenge on-road
Your favorite triathlon?
Still probably too early to tell, but Rich and Libby put on the best race series that I’ve participated in.
Meal the night before race?
I don’t really have a ritual meal, I just focus on healthy carbs and I usually enjoy a glass of red wine
Pre-Race Meal?
I have eaten oatmeal before races since my freshman year of high school
Race Nutrition?
For sprints I usually don’t need much, but I’m a huge fan of LMNT drink mix
Favorite motivational training song?
Probably 10k by KB but I also like any type of modern rock like the Black Keys
Favorite mantra?
Train insane or remain the same
Key Workout?
My favorite workouts in college were long tempo runs or fartleks
Best Triathlon training or racing tip?
Have fun! This sport is very time consuming, so if it doesn’t become fun anymore then nothing will be fun. Take breaks if necessary.
Triathlon literature or other sources of information?
Matt Fitzgerald is my favorite endurance author. “How Bad Do You Want It” is my favorite mentality book or “80/20 Triathlon” for training tips.
Who inspires you?
Morgan Pearson and Kevin McDowell on the triathlon side because of how resilient they are through each of their circumstances. Sydney Mclaughlin as a competitor because of how bold she is in her faith. Craig Engels because he just has so much fun.
Future goal or bucket list race?
Probably a world championship of some sort. I don’t know what distance I am going to enjoy the most, so we will see what the future holds.
