Years doing triathlon? 6
First Triathlon? A relay with my aunt and mom at Ramblin’ Rose in Winston-Salem
Your favorite triathlon? I’ve never done a race I didn’t like, but Ironman Raleigh 70.3 was probably my favorite. It was my first 70.3, but the atmosphere and the cheerleaders were amazing! The course was tough, but being local and having the opportunity to practice and be a part of something so amazing was an awesome experience.
Meal the night before race? I’m not picky, anything with butter and mushrooms!!!
Pre-Race Meal? It wasn’t always like this, but currently my before race meal is 2 eggs with shredded cheese and uncured bacon! YUMMMYYYY!
Race Nutrition? Almond or Peanut Perfect Bars which are DELICIOUS!
Favorite motivational training song? “Back in Black”- ACDC. Malificient (my bike) is black so this song makes me want to cycle fast!
Favorite mantra? Kicking ass (butt) and taking names! Though being my speed there isn’t much butt kicking going on LOL!
Key Workout? ALL WORKOUTS ARE KEY! But for me, rest days are key! That is my hardest and most challenging workout, I find it very hard to slow down and suffer because of that in the meat of training.
Best Triathlon training or racing tip? It is your race, your pace. No one effects your race, but you, make it what you want it to be!
Triathlon literature or other sources of information? be IronFit for Women and the Woman Triathlete are both great books and good reads for women who want more details about their specifics in the triathlon world.
Who inspires you? I have a few people that inspire me. My mom is a big number one! Who has an awesome mom that wants to pursue your dreams with you and that pushes you on the bad days and congratulates you on the good days. We started this journey together and are starting an even bigger one next year training for our first full! My soon-to-be husband also inspires me. Bless him, he isn’t a fitness guy, but he pushes me forward and lifts me up in everything I do! Having someone who brags and supports your fitness endeavors is wonderful! Of course, he thinks I live at the gym since I work and workout there, but he understands I am a crazy addict and that my job and my fitness are my happy place.
Future goal? Ironman NC 2017!
