Name: Laurie Pelletier
Age: 39
Occupation: RN

Years doing triathlon? 7 years
First Triathlon? Raleigh Ramblin’ Rose (mini sprint)
Your favorite triathlon? I would have to say Mont-Tremblant 70.3. It was my 1st Half iron distance and my family was there to cheer me on. Nothing can compare to that… except maybe if I complete a full… one day!

Meal the night before race? Grilled salmon or chicken, steamed greens (ex. broccoli), sauerkraut and water.
Pre-Race Meal? 2 eggs and bacon, bulletproof coffee.
Race Nutrition? Chia Bars (dark chocolate cherry my favorite), UCAN (added for half iron distance).

Favorite motivational training song? Elastic Heart, SIA./ Just Like Fire, PINK/ Pop song.

Favorite mantra? Keep smiling… because if you stop… your heart will feel it and the spark will fade.

Key Workout? My YOGA. If I did not do it I would never stretch and everyone should!!!

Best Triathlon training or racing tip? Training: I train MAF (MAF: Maximum aerobic function) Train slow, race fast… (and by all means I am not fast!!!) But, since last year I started training using MAF, and I have had my best times every time I race (PR’s) and I feel amazing (no injury). I truly believe it is working for me and I am sticking to it! Might want to look into it…

Racing: To me racing is all about feeling accomplish. Feeling that the training you put in is now rewarded by a fantastic race day. I don’t put pressure on myself regarding time, I just enjoy every second of the frenzy! One more thing, try to relax and enjoy the venue of your race… it helps me to be more “ZEN” when I focus on the environment around me. Take it all in! (BTW: Chattanooga was beautiful!!)

Triathlon literature or other sources of information? Simon. (He is my SIRI when it comes to training and everything), I listen to lots of podcast (Phil Maffetone (MAF), Ben Greenfield fitness, Bulletproof radio… others).
Books: Be iron fit (beginner’s book for Iron distance).

Who inspires you? My mom. She was diagnosed with breast cancer when she was 46. Cancer keeps coming back every 5 years and she fights like a tigress! Strong women. And my dad, who’s been right next to her every step of the way. He just loves her so much. They are both a great example of overcoming obstacles and support!

Future goal? Keep pushing myself while staying healthy and injury free. As for bucket list… Marathon is probably next… Not sure yet.
