Name: Audrey Miller
Age: 45
Occupation: First grade teacher
Years doing triathlon? 4ish
First Triathlon? Rambling Rose (super sprint distance for my 40th birthday) and I was totally hooked after that!
Your favorite triathlon? I like the Olympic standard distance best (either the triathlon or duathlon).
Meal the night before race? I splurge and eat a burger.
Pre-Race Meal? My favorite fruit and veggie protein smoothy and peanut butter toast
Race Nutrition? Huma gels/banana/scratch mix or Nunn tabs (I only do shorter distance races, so not much fuel is needed)
Favorite motivational training song? “Whatever It Takes” Imagine Dragons
Favorite mantra? Triathlon is just playtime for adults. It is all the activities I grew up loving. I was never an athlete. I have always been active, but never found a sport until my 40’s. It is just a fun way of life and staying healthy.
Key Workout? Saturday group rides and long solo runs keep me sane and balanced in life. My recent new love is trail running. I have just started this in the last 6 months. I love the solidarity in nature.
Best Triathlon training or racing tip? Never forget to have fun. We are blessed to get to do this crazy sport!
Triathlon literature or other sources of information? I love reading any book on ultra-running, anything from Iron Fit, autobiographies of great racers, etc. I read a lot!
Who inspires you? Meredith Kessler is my triathlon hero. I got to meet her a couple of years ago. I am always inspired by her positivity. She is the first to congratulate others, cheer everyone, and show grace no matter how her race day goes. I love following her Instagram posts. Her letters to her son are so sweet and moving about her love of our sport!
Future goal or bucket list race? I have slowly built endurance in the past couple of years after never having been serious about any sport. I would like to qualify for Nationals again (Olympic distance). I would also like to complete my first half Iron distance race. I was planning on tackling both of these this year until COVID hit. Now, I suppose they are goals for the next couple of years.
