Your favorite triathlon? Lake Logan, Canton NC – beautiful beyond words plus I got to do it on my actual 50th birthday, so extra bonus.
 
Meal the night before race? Grilled Salmon, mashed potatoes, asparagus, and lots of water.
Pre-Race Meal? White bagel with peanut butter, banana, water & coffee
Race Nutrition? Crank Sports E-Gel, Nunn in water, Hammer Enduralytes
 
Favorite motivational training song? Kelly Clarkson “What Doesn’t Kill You Makes You Stronger”
 
Favorite mantra? “Every step is one step less”
 
Key Workout? Rest day – truly underrated but super important
 
Best Triathlon training or racing tip? Salt, salt & more salt & prepare yourself mentally and in all other areas (gear, nutrition, etc) for the worst possible scenarios (weather, malfunctions, cramping, etc.)
 
Triathlon literature or other sources of information? USTA newsletter has some great things, also love Run Smart Online and Kevin Kostella of TriSwimCoach. Blessed to also have many very experienced friends to rely on. Lastly, Coach Matt at E3 Endurance.
 
Who inspires you? Sister Madonna Bruder – “Iron Nun” at 82 she was the oldest woman to complete an IronMan distance… gives me hope! Plus she is smiling the entire time.
 
Future goal? Alcatraz I think would be really cool and ultimately I hope to conquer a full IronMan one day… family and body notwithstanding.
