Years doing triathlon? 2
First Triathlon? Tri Inside. Indoor sprint tri at the YMCA in Statesville.
Your favorite triathlon? my next one… still early to pick just one yet!
 
Meal the night before race? I do love pasta, but also mix it up. I know, I know, you’re not supposed to do that, but stick with safe items like chicken of some sort, a baked sweet potato, and some sort of vegetable, and fruit that are easily digestible.
Pre-Race Meal? Either oatmeal or a peanut butter banana sandwich on raisin cinnamon swirl bread. Apple sauce.
Race Nutrition? Breakthrough Nutrition NBS, SIS Go, Scratch bars, and I make a variety of my own rice cakes and portables to fuel my efforts.
 
Favorite motivational training song? Skillet – Feel Invincible
 
Favorite mantra? Philippians 4:13 “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” “Embrace the Journey.”
 
Key Workout? Bricks and intervals
 
Best Triathlon training or racing tip? Keep at it! Learn and grow from every session or race and bring that to the next event! Work with a coach.
 
Triathlon literature or other sources of information? Matt Dixon; “Fast-Track Triathlete.” USA Triathlon Magazine, Ironman website, other magazines, websites, and coaching blogs.
 
Who inspires you? All the people who continue to take themselves to their next level of fitness and performance.
 
Future goal? I am signed up for two 70.3 races next year, Eagleman 70.3 and IM NC 70.3, and I plan on doing the full Trivium series again. Then I would like to do a full 140.6 in 2020 when I am 60 years old, so on or after June 6th.
