Name: Jerry Thompson
Age: 56
Occupation: Retired from High Point Police as a Major Crimes Detective. Now deliver school bus parts to the local counties around here. Definitely less stress 🙂

Years doing triathlon? This is my 2nd year of triathlons.

First Triathlon? My 1st tri was the HP Tri!!!!! I panicked during the swim but got myself together for a good finish for my 1st tri. Now I’m addicted but have so much to learn.

Your favorite triathlon? Daytona Challenge last December! The venue of racing at the Daytona Speedway was surreal.

Pre-Race Meal? Meal before a race well that depends on the distance. Usually high carbs with some proteins. Now post- race give me pizza or a yummy burger!

Race Nutrition? I have been using egel powder as well as egel gels with sos for salt

Favorite motivational training song? Lose yourself by Eminem and Feel the Thunder by the Imagine Dragons.

Favorite mantra? Don’t be small today! I saw this sign in Boston 2018 and have never forgot it.

Key Workout? All of them 🙂

Best Triathlon training or racing tip? “Your race your pace” I’ve learned that the hard way doing marathons. I’ve ran 10 marathons and several 1/2 marathons and this tip has been true for all of them!

Triathlon literature or other sources of information? Triathlete and USA Triathlon and the Training Bible by Joe Friel.

Who inspires you? As a prior Special Olympic coach for many years, I have always been inspired by Special Olympic athletes that have so many reasons to be sad or down but have the biggest smiles on their faces and give their all on whatever sport they are playing.

Future goal or bucket list race? IM70.3 in Wilmington this Fall and NY Marathon 2 weeks later and Boston in April 2020.
